Sermon Title: Walking with Jesus in the Storm
Text: Matthew 14:22-34 (NRSVUE)
Focus: The sea was a mysterious and dangerous place and Jesus was watching over the disciples during their time of need even when they were not aware of it. Simon Peter deserves a lot of credit for getting out of the boat in the first place. It takes courage for a person to get out of one’s comfort zone no matter what that comfort zone may be.

Sermon Title: Bedrock or Stumbling Block?
Text: Matthew 16:13-23 (NRSVUE)

Summary: Simon Peter walked away from everything to follow his Teacher. He was bold, passionate, and ultimately helped ignite a movement that would reshape history. That’s one way to describe him.
Here’s another: a poor fisherman, uneducated, impulsive, often doubtful, and deeply afraid.
It hardly sounds like the same man—and that’s exactly the point. Simon Peter was both flawed and faithful.
This sermon series is about transformation. Peter wasn’t a spiritual giant from the start. He was an ordinary person who responded to an extraordinary call. What can we learn from his failures and his faith?
